Old Testament
Job 33:1-33
Job had experienced loss
The loss of his possessions
The loss of his family
The loss of his health
People around him came to him
These people were quick to give him advice
Application
For those who offer us advice when we are in the midst of pain
Others may offer us advice based on their understanding of our problem
Elihu had misunderstood what Job had said. (Job 33: 8-10)
He like Job did not understand what was really going on
(The Job’s pain really had not much to do with him)
Others give us advice based on their understanding of God
Elihu had a correct understanding of God
(Job 33: 12-30)
God is greater than us,
God does speak to us in many ways, in our dreams,
In our pain, when our body wastes away,
When we draw near our destruction
God uses our pain to
To show His goodness and grace to us (23-24)
To bring a renewing to our spirits (25)
To bring us understanding of His love for us (26)
To restore joy and peace to our lives (26)
Help us have a great testimony to those around us (27-30)
Help us not fear the pain that may come
