Micah
The Setting
Micah lived at the same time as Isaiah. They both were prophets in the southern kingdom of Judah.
These times were tense for the nation of Judah. Even though they were led by a godly king Hezekiah they were constantly threatened by the Assyrian empire.
Later in the history of Judah the nation was invaded and about 46 cities were captured
The Story
Religious reforms issues by Hezekiah swept through Judah.
The house of God had been cleansed.
The priests had been sanctified for ministry
Altars and pillars to foreign gods were pulled down and smashed
The worship instituted by King David was restored
The Old Testament faith was strictly observed
The nation took great pride and comfort that their faith was right again
God allowed Micah to see beneath the externals of ritual and form
What Micah saw in the heart of God’s people was perverse and ungodly as what the northern nation of Israel
The southern nation of Judah had placed their confidence in their correct forms of their religion and doctrine

Application
Judgment is coming
Because of sin God must send judgment
The people are worshipping the works of their hands
We find ourselves serving and sacrificing the things of this world
We spend our time thinking out ways to carry our plans
We try to stop those who telling us the truth and preferred the voices that are as wicked as we are
We lie to ourselves and say we are not really that bad, these outcomes will not come upon us.
A Deliverer is coming
There is hope
One day there will peace on earth and righteousness will reign
A deliverer will establish His kingdom of peace and there will be no more war
Trust is the Lord Today
Realize that God does need our sacrifices, our religion and our gifts
God desires our hearts
Out of that heart flows justice, mercy, correct relationship with Him

Admit our sin and realize that we can never wash away our own sins
Understand that if we are out of the will God that everything we do will amount to nothing
Have the hope that only God can bring
